The atmosphere

Golf del Sur was built in the 1980s around one of the oldest courses on the island: 27 holes lined with palm trees, with bunkers of black volcanic sand, running down towards the Atlantic. The neighbourhood follows the same drawing: low-rise residences, maintained gardens, little traffic.

Daily life comes down to short journeys: the course, the club house, the pool of the residence, then the coastal path to Los Abrigos. That fishing village lines up its fish restaurants above the water, and going down there for dinner is part of the habits of Golf del Sur residents. The neighbourhood is lived in all year, by golfers as well as by families and European retirees.

Golf del Sur — The atmosphere

The neighbourhood shops and the San Blas shopping centre cover what is needed, with the nature reserve of the same name to the west. The South airport is eight minutes away: fifteen minutes after landing you are on the terrace. The nearest sandy beach is El Médano, ten minutes away by car.

Prices stay below those of the west coast resorts. The supply splits between apartments and townhouses in residences with a pool, often with a view over the fairways or the ocean, and a few villas along the edge of the course. Renovated homes facing the course or the sea sell first. As the neighbourhood has been built since the 1980s, you buy older stock, more or less brought up to date.

Golf del Sur suits golfers first, but not them alone: for a second home you come to often and briefly, the distance to the airport settles a great deal. Buyers who want a sandy beach below the building, or nightlife, will look elsewhere.

Everyday life

The property market

Apartments and townhouses with a pool, often with a view over the fairways or the ocean, and a few villas along the edge of the course. Renovated homes facing the course concentrate demand. Prices stay below those of the west coast resorts.

Who is it for?

Golf del Sur suits golfers, and also buyers who want a second home that is simple to reach: eight minutes after landing, you are home. The neighbourhood stays quiet and lived in all year, with the restaurants of Los Abrigos reached on foot. It is not the right choice if you want a sandy beach below the building.

Strengths

  • South airport 8 minutes away: useful for short, frequent stays
  • A maintained setting around the course, with open views over the fairways
  • Los Abrigos and its fish restaurants reached on foot
  • Prices below those of the west coast resorts
  • A quiet neighbourhood, lived in all year

Things to consider

  • Flight path nearby: aircraft noise depending on the wind
  • No sandy beach in the neighbourhood itself
  • Limited nightlife and cultural offering

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about Golf del Sur

No. The course structures the neighbourhood and guarantees open views, but most residents come first for the quiet, the gardens, the distance to the airport and the restaurants of Los Abrigos. Golfers have three courses within less than ten minutes: Golf del Sur, Amarilla Golf and Los Palos.

The airport is close, eight minutes away, and you hear it on some days. The flight paths run mainly out to sea, and traffic at Tenerife South stays moderate next to the large European airports. What you hear depends on the wind and on the exact position of the home in the neighbourhood. We arrange viewings at different times of day so that you can judge on the ground.

Los Abrigos is a fishing harbour, a few minutes away on foot along the coastal path; its lanes and its port are what illustrate this page. Its fresh fish restaurants sit above the water, along the quay. A few village houses come up for sale there from time to time, and we follow those homes closely.
