The atmosphere
Costa del Silencio takes the southern tip of the island, between Las Galletas and Montaña Amarilla. The neighbourhood stretches along a volcanic coast cut into coves and natural pools. There is no large hotel and no commercial seafront: the coast has stayed raw, with footpaths and bathing spots known to the regulars.
The neighbourhood was built between the 1970s and the 1990s, around large complexes with gardens and pools. It is lived in all year by a mixed population: Canarian, British, Italian and Belgian residents. People meet at the café, walk along the coast at the end of the day, and the shops do not close off season.
The shops of the neighbourhood cover daily life, and neighbouring Las Galletas adds its market, its harbour and its services. The dive centre and the paths towards Montaña Amarilla start from the area. The South airport is twelve minutes away, which shortens round trips to Europe.
The market is the most affordable on this coast: apartments in a residence with a pool from €150,000, bungalows and terraced houses between €250,000 and €350,000. Quality varies sharply from one complex to the next, depending on the state of the common areas and the running of the community of owners. A well-chosen and renovated apartment gives a base facing the ocean for less than the neighbouring resorts.
Costa del Silencio suits a measured budget: a first purchase in the sun, a plain second home facing the Atlantic, or year-round living in a quiet place. The point to check before any offer is the financial health of the community of owners.

The neighbourhood was built early, with no sandy beach and no commercial seafront, and most of its stock dates from the 1970s to the 1990s. It has therefore escaped the pressure of the neighbouring resorts. In practice, a renovated apartment facing the ocean costs two to three times less than in Costa Adeje, for the same sunshine. The trade-off is the state of the buildings, which varies widely from one complex to the next.
The volcanic coast has several landscaped bathing points and natural pools, usable when the sea is calm. The coves also draw divers, in particular the site at Montaña Amarilla. For sand, the small Las Galletas beach is a twenty-minute walk away. There is no other sandy beach in the neighbourhood.
This is the key point in Costa del Silencio: between two neighbouring complexes, the state of the common areas, the accounts of the community of owners and the profile of the residents differ completely.
