The atmosphere

Abama covers 160 hectares on the slopes of Guía de Isora: tropical gardens, banana plantations and fairways run down to a golden-sand beach framed by cliffs. The master plan comes from the architect Melvin Villarroel and sets a simple rule: no building rises above the crowns of the palm trees, and the façades take up the ochre of the volcanic earth.

The Ritz-Carlton occupies the centre of the resort, with its restaurants, among them Michelin-starred tables. The course drawn by Dave Thomas unrolls its 18 holes facing the ocean. The private residences, from Las Terrazas to the villas of the Custom Plot Estate, are spread through the gardens. Access is controlled day and night.

The resort services cover everyday needs: restaurants, a spa, golf and tennis academies, a kids club and shuttles to the beach. For the rest, Playa San Juan and Alcalá are five minutes away, with their shops and their village restaurants. Allow a quarter of an hour for Costa Adeje and 30 minutes for the South airport.

The whole Abama market is high-end and framed by the resort master plan. The supply includes serviced residences, apartments and villas of a high standard, along with a few building plots. Prices sit at the top of the Tenerife market, supported by the limited number of homes.

Abama suits a buyer who wants hotel service day to day, controlled access and a home managed between stays. The entry price and the charges sit above the rest of the island, which assumes regular stays. From Luxembourg the flight takes five hours, and the South airport is 30 minutes from the resort.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about Abama

Yes: the beach, below the cliffs, is open to residents and to resort guests, by shuttle or by the hotel funicular. It is one of the few beaches on the island whose access is restricted. There is a sunbed service and a restaurant on the sand.

The resort has several segments. The apartments and penthouses in serviced residences, such as Las Terrazas de Abama, come with hotel services and the charges that go with them. The villas belong to contemporary developments, and a few plots in the Custom Plot Estate allow you to build your own villa within the master plan. Each option has its own rules of use and services, which we check before the viewing.

The resort sits apart, but the distances stay short. Playa San Juan and Alcalá, with their shops and their restaurants, are five minutes away. The full services of Costa Adeje are fifteen minutes away, the South airport thirty. Without a car, on the other hand, you depend on the internal shuttles.
