The atmosphere

North of Costa Adeje, in the municipality of the same name, Callao Salvaje has remained a small resort built to a human scale: a handful of gently sloping streets, low-rise residences with gardens, and a sandy cove — the Playa de Ajabo — tucked between the low cliffs. There are no large hotels here, nor shopping avenues: this is the scale of a residential village.

The atmosphere is quiet and familiar. The residents — Canarians, mainland Spaniards and Northern Europeans settled here year-round — gather in the few seafront restaurants or along the coastal path that runs towards Playa Paraíso. In the evening, the neighbourhood drifts off early, lulled by the ocean.

Daily life is simple: supermarkets, a pharmacy, cafés and diving schools cover the essentials on the spot. For fuller amenities — shopping centres, clinics, golf — Costa Adeje is ten minutes away by car along the coast road, and the airport is under thirty minutes.

The property market offers some of the best value in the municipality of Adeje: apartments in residences with a pool, townhouses, and a few villas with ocean views on the higher ground. Recent front-line developments have introduced a more contemporary segment, while keeping prices appreciably below those of El Duque or La Caleta.

Callao Salvaje is for those who want Adeje's climate and coastline without the buzz: couples and families seeking quiet, buyers looking for a first second home, or year-round residents who work on the west coast.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about Callao Salvaje

No, provided you accept the need for a car: most of daily life — supermarket, pharmacy, restaurants, beach — is within walking distance in the village, and Costa Adeje covers the rest ten minutes away. It is precisely this balance between seclusion and proximity that appeals to our clients: you sleep in the quiet and lunch at El Duque if the mood takes you.

The Playa de Ajabo is a cove of golden-grey sand, sheltered between low cliffs, with water that is often calm in the morning. It stays a hidden gem even in season — more of a local beach than a resort one. For the larger, fully equipped stretches, Fañabé is a quarter of an hour away by car.

The recent schemes offer contemporary apartments with wide terraces and communal pools, often facing due west towards the ocean, as well as a few townhouses. The finishes — picture windows, fitted kitchens, parking — stand in clear contrast to the older stock, at prices that are still reasonable by the standards of the municipality of Adeje.
